Camanche community members founded their own non-profit early childhood education center, providing preschool, summer camp, and childcare programs (ages 6 weeks to 5 years old) for over 160 children annually. The center, in partnership with the Camanche Community School District, has been honored as a grant recipient of the Iowa Dept. of Education Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program for Four-Year-Old Children, which provides free preschool tuition for 4-year-old children regardless of family income level.
