The City of Camanche commissioned a storm water study by Shive Hattery to be conducted. The results were made available to the City on January 13, 2023. City Council will begin a review of the study and assess the implementation of the recommendations in subsequent years of capital improvements. The funding for the study utilized American Rescue Plan Act funds.
Below is the audit report filed for fiscal year 2022. The City conitnues to strive towards rectifying the one main area where we have a dificiency, which is separation of duties. Increasing our staff at City Hall and designating certain tasks for certain individuals will help eliminate that finding. In previous years, we have simply not had enough staff to separate those duties. Every small city in Iowa has this issue. We beleive we will be able to overcome this finding next year. If you have any questions concerning the audit, please contact the City Administrator
A 10 year Capital Improvement Plan was adopted in 2019. The CIP conitnues to be a work in progress. Portions of the CIP have been administered. The City Council reviews the CIP annually to make amendments and addtions. You are encouraged to review the plans and attend meetings to provide input. The plan is provided below.
A Trail Plan was adopted in 2021 by the Camanche City Council. The plan is available for review by clicking on the document below.
January 1st - March 31st
Beginning January 21, 2023:
$10 for a spayed or neutered dog
$15 for a non spayed or neutered dog
$3 for spayed or neutered cat
$6 for non-spayed or neutered cat
$25 late fee/pet after March 31st
These fees reflect an increase as approved by the City Council. Fees were establshed in 1987 and had not changed until this recent ordinance amendment passed January 3, 2023. The City of Camanche now operates a kennel on site which impacts cost. The City continues to contract some services with the Clinton Humane Society. All stray cats go to CHS. Dogs captured locally stay here for a period of time. Captured dogs are not released until rabies vaccination is verified and at large fines are paid. This enables dog owners to retrieve their pet locally instead of travelling to CHS. This process eliminates owners from travelling back and forth between CHS and the CIty of Camanche to straighten out the fine and registration requirements for dogs at large. The City's kennel is registered, inspected and authorized by the State of Iowa. If you have any questions, please contact the City Administrator.
