CAMANCHE’S MILITARY, FIRST RESPONDER, AND VETERAN BANNER PROGRAM 2024-2024

The City of Camanche and Hometown Pride are pleased to introduce a banner program that recognizes and honors those who are serving or have served our community as a first responder or our nation in the U.S. Armed Forces.

The program is intended to recognize and show appreciation for the military, first responder, and veteran personnel and their families who have ties to the area.  Banners will display a photo of the service person in uniform, as well as their name, branch/rank, and dates of service.

Qualifications

To qualify for the Military, Veteran, and First Responders Banner Program, the following criteria must be met: 

The honoree is an active duty member of the United States Armed Forces; OR the honoree is a retired or honorably discharged member of the United States Armed Forces who have, or did, reside in Camanche, or resided in Camanche and are now deceased; OR The honoree is a current first responder (Police, Fire, or EMT); OR the honoree is a retired first responder (Police, Fire, or EMT) who has, or did reside in Camanche, or resided in Camanche and is now deceased; OR The applicant must be a current resident or business based in Camanche.

Banner Style and Display

Each banner is double-sided, full color 30” x 63” and custom made with an image of the honoree (provided by the applicant) or a banner with the military/first responder silhouettes. Banners will be placed on the decorative light poles along Washington Blvd., on or around Memorial Day 2024 and will remain up until Veterans Day in 2024.  They will be displayed again in 2025 from Memorial Day to Veterans Day. At that time, you will be contacted to either pick up your banner or renew for another year. 

As many as 32 banners will be placed throughout the town of Camanche on the light poles along Washington Blvd. There is a limit of one banner per honoree, and one person per banner. A map will be created to help visitors and family members locate their banners. 

The City, Chamber, or Camanche Hometown Pride Committee will not be responsible for replacing banners that are stolen, damaged or destroyed due to the sun, weather, age, vandalism or any act of nature beyond our control such as high winds.

Upon removal of the banner after the second year, applicants will be contacted to decide if they want to renew their banner or have it returned. 

COST AND DETAILS

$250 per banner, good for two-years. Cost covers the purchase of the banner, installation and maintenance, as well as a small contribution to the Camanche Hometown Pride Program.

If choosing the honoree photo banner option, the applicant is required to provide a high-quality photo of the honoree in his/her military or first responder uniform. A digital copy is preferred, but if a digital copy is not available.  Photos must be provided by the March 31st, 2024 deadline.

Camanche Hometown Pride Committee is currently accepting applications. Applications may be submitted online at Banner Application 2024-2025 mailed to Camanche Hometown Pride P.O. Box 53 Camanche Iowa. Payment must be received in order for applications to be processed. Checks should be made payable to the Camanche Hometown Pride. Donations will be considered tax free/tax deductible to the greatest extent allowed by the law.

DEADLINE for SUBMISSIONS

The deadline to submit an application for a banner is March 31st, 2024 or until availability runs out.
