A proposed merger between Candian Pacific Railroad and Kasnas City Southern Railroad is being put to the Surface Transportation Board. This proposed merger will increase train volume, train length and train speed through Camanche. The large volume of traffic will include bituminous oil from Canada travelling to the Gulf of Mexico. A public Hearing is being held at the Camanche City Hall 818 7th Avenue at 6:00 PM. Each individual wishing to speak will need to sign in with their name and address. We are pre-arranging a list for individuals to sign up to speak. If you wish to have your name added to the list, please fill out the form below and fill it out. Make sure that your name and addess are included. If you are not present when your name is called, the slot will be passed over.

This is an important opportunity for your elected officials to hear your voice. Each speaker will be limited to 3 minutes as we anticipate many people attending this meeting.  We request an atmosphere of respectfullness of the individuals speaking, attending and listening. Council will not be engaging during the meeting. Council will formulate a position at their next meeting on September 6th. This is your opportunity to be heard.
